If you have a full, clean driving licence and enjoy spending long periods of time behind the wheel, the city of Leeds may be the place to head for, as it has many opportunities to work as a driver.

Van drivers are essential to the distribution and delivery of goods across the UK and to work in this field requires specialist experience.

In many cases, applicants are ideally expected to have a multi-drop driving background, and drivers who collect and deliver from various locations must be able to handle and lift heavy loads.

If you are working in a particular location, good knowledge of the area is vital to maximise delivery times. Even though many vehicles are equipped with satnav systems, it also helps if you can read maps in case the gadget malfunctions!

Drivers of vans spending most of their unsupervised, so employers usually look for motivated people with good customer skills when making deliveries to the public. Depending on the nature of the deliveries, you may have to work early and late shifts, for example delivering stock to a supermarket.
